” If A Soul Was A Rainbow Lorikeet In A Drunken Parrot Tree”
Oil on Belgian Linen board
12″ x 10″
You may be shy to show yourself just as this little lorikeet was. Hiding behind every possible leaf so the whole you on the inside could never be seen. This little one never did allow me a photo showing his whole eye. I must have focused on him for half an hour at least. Not a single time. Somehow he managed to always look at me and make eye contact with me with half of an eye covered. And maybe that’s what you’ve been doing. Partially hiding. For some of you maybe you’re afraid that if you’re seen you will be found wanting. You know you’re not perfect and you worry you won’t be accepted. For others maybe you’re worried there’s nothing to see, that you’re not interesting or capable or unique or gifted. Maybe someone told you a wrong story about yourself a long time ago and you’ve been telling yourself that same story ever since.
The funny part is, to me, and to those that know you, you are so vibrant and full of colour. You’re so beautiful and captivating and smart and resourceful and quick and all things good.
Maybe, this coming year, even tonight, turn over a new ‘leaf’, step out from the one you’ve been ducking behind and let us make ‘eye contact’ with you. Let our souls commune and connect and create together. Who knows what could come of it. We each have some kind of special to offer. Offer yours now with conviction, wild abandon, and loving innocence.
We love you, and those who don’t, who reject your ‘reveal’, that’s their stuff and their journey. And it’s ok.
